Saint Louis head softball coach John Conway added a West Coast-transplant and the first local player to his 2009 recruiting class with the signings of infielder Kelly Flanagan (San Diego, Calif. / University City) and utility player Erin Cejka (Kirkwood, Mo. / Kirkwood), respectively. Conway also announced that St. Louis Post-Dispatch Player of the Year, middle infielder Kerri Dockins (Millstadt, Ill. / Belleville West), has also chosen to attend the University and compete as a member of the softball team. Flanagan, Cejka and Dockins will all have four years of eligibility starting with the 2008-09 academic year.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) announced that six Miami University student-athletes have been honored with its annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award.
