Montana offensive lineman J.D. Quinn was arrested Thursday on charges of drunken driving, his second DUI charge in less than a year. The 22-year-old senior, who transferred from Oklahoma, was arrested after he pulled over for a traffic stop, refused a breathalyzer and requested a blood test, according to his attorney. |

Jack Mildren, a former lieutenant governor and the first quarterback in the University of Oklahoma\'s vaunted wishbone offense, died on Thursday, his brother said. He was 58. Mildren, who had been undergoing treatment for stomach cancer, died at Integris Baptist Medical Center, spokeswoman Brooke Cayot confirmed. |

Texas Tech center Stephen Hamby faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly punching a man in the face twice in March. Hamby, indicted by a grand jury Tuesday, is accused of punching the man during an altercation near campus. The victim suffered a fractured jaw and was treated at a Lubbock hospital, police said. |

Former Penn State cornerback Adam Taliaferro will be one step closer to getting back into sports when he graduates from law school Thursday. It\'s been nearly eight years since Taliaferro, then a freshman, suffered a severe neck injury while making a tackle during a game at Ohio State. Doctors initially feared he would never walk again after he was motionless on the field for minutes. |

North Dakota star running back Ryan Chappell is academically ineligible to play this season, the first for the school at Division I. UND football coach Chris Mussman said Tuesday that Chappell will remain on the team. He was to begin his junior season this fall. Chappell was UND\'s leading rusher last season, gaining 1,640 yards and scoring 14 touchdowns. |

Arkansas running back Brandon Barnett was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a traffic citation Tuesday night. After getting pulled over, Fayetteville police checked his record and discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Johnson County, according to Sgt. Mike Cambron of the Washington County sheriff\'s office. |
